2 of 5 people found this review helpful On the first half, things are just riveting on John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and their gimmicks of stealing shows. Yeah, alluring missy Priyanka Chopra with her gorgeous looks doesn't brim up top-notched performance. Somehow, as the story shifts to her on the latter half, she is pushed into limelight with Bobby Deol on her side.

1 of 4 people found this review helpful Dostana with Jr. Bachchan along with his Gay partner John is nothing but glossy eye candy with full of nonsense. With mediocre storyline and much worst screenplay, the movie Dostana is not even 1% compared to 80s Dostana.

1 of 5 people found this review helpful The word 'dost', I suspect, is a popular euphemism for 'gay'. One should be a little less casual with its usage now. Bombay Dost was also India's first gay magazine. Neither John's Kunal nor Abhishek's Sameer in this film are likely to have read that journal. The two of them claim to be a homosexual couple, but are actually not.

3 of 6 people found this review helpful Dostana is exactly as you'd expect from the trailers. Shilpa Shetty pops up wearing a bikini, Priyanka Chopra makes Neal'N'Nikki leftovers look very good indeed, and John Abraham's bottom plays a starring role...

1 of 3 people found this review helpful Dostana is extremely entertaining, has a few heart warming moments and some of the funny scenes would get the house down.

3 of 3 people found this review helpful Of course Dostana is no patch on the Hollywood cult classic. But along the way it does give you enough reasons to laugh out. And when have we demanded anything more out of our (and specifically KJo's) movies anyway?

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Dostana can truly be called one of the most entertaining films that one has seen this year thus far. The story is simple but it's the chemistry and flawless sync between the two lead actors - Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham - that totally works in favour of this movie. Take that away and you'd have had some really mediocre fare.

2 of 2 people found this review helpful This is the story of two guys Sam and Kunal played by Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham respectively. The two meet by co-incidence and then they decided to pose as a gay couple so that they are allowed to stay in Neha's (Priyanka Chopra) house.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Debutant Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana could have become just one big Homophobiana.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful 'Dostana' is a full-on fun film that doesn't trouble itself with authentic depiction of gay love.

2 of 2 people found this review helpful With nary a subplot or murder mystery in sight, this masala feature is then, plot wise, a few notches below the oldies. This leaves with us it's novelty of being a "gay" film. It's not. It's a terrible affront to gay people, and portrays them as you'd expect - waving hands, speaking in faux effeminate voices and prone to giggling fits.

2 of 2 people found this review helpful This is not a gay film, but it sure is a happy one. In fact, the gay theme is, sadly over-hyped and overdone, while in the film, it plays the mere role of a recurrent gag.

9 of 11 people found this review helpful Dostana would have ended up as a regular love-triangle if not for the intelligently-incorporated gay angle. Furthermore it survives significantly and skillfully throughout the film springing up smart surprises every now and then...

So why and how does Dostana work? Simply because it introduces the most outrageous scenes in popular Hindi cinema and manages to get away with it because it's all done with an infectious zest and effervescence that keeps the ribs tickling.

5 of 5 people found this review helpful The jokes come thick and fast, achieving laugh-out moments every now and then. But it?s all potentially at the expense of a certain diverse group, and therefore the sensitive audience needs to be cautious.

5 of 5 people found this review helpful Dostana is a winner all the way. In terms of content, it might just prove to be a trendsetter. In terms of business, the film holds tremendous appeal for the youth...

3 of 3 people found this review helpful bsolutely and unequivocally yes! Tarun has delivered a simply love story to simply lovely story with an absolutely funny and have-you-constantly- in-splits script.
By Movietalkies, November 15, 2008 - 08:47 IST
2 of 2 people found this review helpful The story is simple enough but has been well embellished by the witty and funny dialogues, ridiculous sequences and great acting. The film does not attempt to preach or talk seriously about a sensitive issue like homosexuality but rather uses it as a ploy to evoke laughter and comedy.
