You imagine that a ghost was sitting next to you in Darling. After the mind-curdling show this is how our conversation, at the parking lot, went.. complete with tywhoo-tywhoo owl effects:

It is hard to classify ‘Darling’ in any genre. It is neither a horror movie, nor a comedy nor a love triangle. Yet, in an eerie way, the movie is all of these. It has a comic track that begins in the first half and returns again in the second half. In between, there is an accidental murder followed by some spooky horror.

The story of 'Darling' makes it looks like a horror movie, but it doesn't do full justice to the genre it belongs. With extended silence, sudden loud noise and excellent background score the first half of the movie thrills to a certain extent. Post interval, the pace slackens and gets the shade of a comical.

With extended silence and sudden noises, the first half of the movie is canned with utmost care to make it a thrilling experience. But after a promising first half, the pace slackens in the post-interval portions. It gets comical and less daunting.

He also has a girlfriend, Geeta Menon (Esha Deol), who is also his secretary. The girlfriend dies one day and makes life miserable for Aditya. This surmises the story in a nutshell.

12 of 12 people found this review helpful The film's plot, as said, borrows from Blithe Spirit but only in, well, spirit, (sorry, really) deciding to wing it soon enough and turn severely dramatic. And just because it works as a five-line summary doesn't mean it has enough meat to be turned into a feature film...
