15 of 18 people found this review helpful 'Go Boooommm...' is the new Bolly mantra. At least that's what the makers of 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' would want us to believe. A movie, which looks at the dark side of the music world.

4 of 5 people found this review helpful The middle ground rating is exactly that – full points for all the things it does right, and minus half for all the things that go wrong. Watch it – you won’t be disappointed, but carry enough popcorn to while away the first half.

4 of 4 people found this review helpful Darshan's directional venture is well-complimented by Himesh Reshammiya's music. No wonder how much his critics slam his music to be too repetitive and run-of-the-mill, the topi-wallah just keeps creating foot-tapping numbers. Even if Shakalaka Boom Boom fails to set the cash registers ringing, the producers won't be disappointed. The music of the film will definitely keep the movie a float.

3 of 4 people found this review helpful I can safely say you've never seen a film like this before, I'm talking about this week's new Bollywood release, director Suneel Darshan's Shakalaka Boom Boom in which Bobby Deol plays an insecure pop-star who refuses to come to terms with the fact that there's a new kid on the block who's all set to steal his thunder...

3 of 4 people found this review helpful Calling Shaka Laka Boom Boom a bad film is being generous. This horror goes on for three hours and we are expected to believe that Himesh Reshammiya's ear splitting music is the work of genius that's got AJ so worried...

2 of 3 people found this review helpful Watching Bobby & Upen both as talented music geniuses is very unbelievable and very, very laughable. Celina shows her cleavage so often, as if the movie is titled 'Shakalaka Boob Boob'. The acting is third-rate and Kangana looks like a hooker...

2 of 3 people found this review helpful The rest of the movie shows a fuming Bobby Deol planning Reggie’s downfall. If only he put in more energies in writing music, he would have had a few more hit albums!

1 of 2 people found this review helpful Poor, poor Upen! He is allowed some screen time this time, but there's nothing really there for him to do, because Bobby Deol develops a death wish: he suddenly decides to undo the little that he has done in screen history...

1 of 2 people found this review helpful This movie is about the rivalry between two music composers based in New York. The key word here is 'two'. Who wins when you have Himesh Reshammiya Vs. Himesh Reshammiya? Don't know about that. But, I surely know who loses. Us!

1 of 2 people found this review helpful The film proves that there really is a dearth of good writers in the industry and the industry needs to do something about this ASAP. A weak script is held together by some snazzy video album type editing, (which is becoming a standard and sadly, another definition of ‘slick’) which in turn is accentuated by some ear-splitting and nerve-jarring background music...

1 of 2 people found this review helpful Because the whole milieu and the plot seems so artificial, and Darshan’s style of direction so old-fashioned, the film is unwatchable. It could have been a fifties’ melodrama, but for the trendy costumes worn by the stars...
