Yet another cop versus the underworld saga. This time its encounter specialist Suryakant( Hooda ) who will put everything at risk to take on underworld don, Khaled ( Vinod Khanna). In case, you haven’t figured out, that is why the film is called RISK!!

Randeep plays an honest Maharashtra policeman, Suryakant Sattam -- a character loosely inspired from real life cop and encounter specialist Daya Nayak. The lack of flamboyance, his thick moustache and unshaven look makes him seem authentic.

Khalid stays in a huge white mansion and travels in swanky SUVs with gun-toting bodyguards all the time - enough said. The sound is good, the picturisation is great but still it somehow doesn't stick in. If you've seen SARKAR and SATYA, you've seen it all. Tanushree has nothing to do except to dance in a 'tit'illating item song and flash her fake eyelashes in every other scene.

Khaled operates from Malaysia and it’s the back-and-forth between Satam and him that forms the crux of the movie. Satam gets enough evidence to incarcerate the CM (Seema Biswas), a close confidante of Khaled and turns up to arrest her.

Risk’ is a commendable film. For it dares to call the spade a spade. Why and how the system is corrupted? Why little is done to change the functioning of the police force? Why honesty is getting confusingly redundant?

RISK is the story of an honest and dutiful cop Suryakant Satam (Randeep Hooda) who is faced with a dilemma. One ‘risk’ can change his life. But he realizes his job is full of risks and doing his duty honestly is the toughest job. RISK is the other side of this cop’s life and the trouble his family and friends face for standing by him and his commitment to his uniform. He takes the one ‘risk’ that changes everything for him.

For Randeep Hooda — and director Vishram Sawant — this must be truly deja vu. At least for us, it is. For, both the actor and the director have simply replayed their roles in this, their second collaboration which looks, feels, sounds and unfolds almost like 'D', their first film.

An honest and upright encounter specialist Suryakant Satam (Randeep Hooda) has taken charge of putting an end to Khalid's (Vinod Khanna) underworld networking that is operational in Mumbai. Khalid himself has set base in Bangkok and his delegated counterparts handle routine affairs in Mumbai. Of course it's not as simple; he faces competition from another don Naidu in Mumbai and a strike from Satam himself.

Vishram Sawant has given his character of Suryakant Satam a real life picturisation based on real-life encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Even Vinod Khanna’s character has been portrayed well. There are some good moments in the film like the touching humane side to the gangster when he is tending to his mentally ill child. Vishram even attempts to throw in some twists and turns at several junctures. The director also tries to explore the setbacks within our system and does so with conviction and credibility. Vishram Sawant’s execution and screenplay are quite able and apt in this action based drama.

There’s nothing different about ‘Risk’. On the face of it, it’s the same cop and underworld saga, except for a twist in the tale. Also, be prepared for a lot of blood and violence. After all, you’re watching an action flick. But worse still, one sees all this happening in real life too, so in a way there’s nothing shocking about the film.

Tanushree Dutta is in the movie just for the sake of having a heroine for the hero. Her role is half-baked and her song ‘Hichki’ is no great shakes.
