Siddharth Anand's Ta Ra Rum Pum plays on every human's ultimate fantasy to conquer against all odds and take home the trophy. Here the trophy stands as a metaphor for the realisation of one's most precious dreams. And that is precisely what makes Ta Ra Rum Pum a universal subject to identify with and feel for.

Saif Ali Khan carries off the film with a maturity that can be associated only with someone who understands cinema. Here is a man who only keeps bettering his last performance...

Ta Ra Rum Pum tops with captivating performances and skillfully blending of emotions. The background music enhances the experience. It's a perfect family entertainer.

In director Siddharth Anand's Ta Ra Rum Pum which releases at cinemas this week, New York-based racing-car champion Saif Ali Khan hits a bad spell when he injured in a racing accident that leaves him with the kind of emotional scars that he doesn't quite recover from even a year later when he returns to the racing track...

Overall the film is wonderful from the word 'action'. Different from the usual Bollywood script and clipped off of all the spicy sagas, Ta Ra Rum Pum is a not-to-be-missed venture.

This year's first Yash Raj Films product has hit the big screen. The Yash Raj brand has become so daunting that all other producers steer clear of a head-on battle. So there are no other releases this week. All decks have been cleared for Siddharth Anand's Tara Rum Pum.

if is not lost in the lights of Shah Rukh or Salman or Aamir anymore. The actor is getting better with every performance. Rani Mukherjee enacts her character smoothly and she interprets various emotions successfully. Jaaved is good in a serious role. Victor and Shruti are good. Child artists Angelina Idnani and Ali Haji are adorable.

While first half is quite breezy, thanks again to Jaffri bhai [dialogues like - 'I Love You Brother, son of a different mother' - do keep you in splits], the second half begins on a highly predictable note...

Overall though the film can be labeled as too glossy in style and picturisation, nonetheless the screenplay, execution and touching emotional substance makes it a fairly good film. It caters to a wide segment of audiences it's a feel good film that gives the audiences a happy feeling after leaving the theater. At the box-office with time it should have a good collection.

Javed Jaffery goes over the top in many scenes. But this is how his character is designed. Child artiste Angelina Idnani is impressive, while Ali Haji is cute but cannot act.
'Tara Rum Pum' has the hallmark of a Yash Raj film. It provides feelgood entertainment for family audiences and children.

Ta Ra Rum Pum is a story about Rajveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a young tyre-changer in the pit crew of a sportscar team, and Radhika Banerjee (Rani Mukerji), a college student who is majoring in, wait - music, French, Greek Philosophy, mathematics and logic (phew! - this girl has got brains).

The acting abilities of Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee were underutilized because any director would have had difficulty making sense of the character's motives given the sprawling, ill-conceived material at hand...

Saif Ali Khan initially goes through the motions, playing what seems to be an extension of his 'Salaam Namaste' character, but then comes into his own in the second half. As a man down on his luck, who doesn't mind the odd hustling to get by, he is in much better form...

Saif is no Schumacher; neither is he quite Russel Crowe. But we may have to go back many years looking for an actor with such original, pleasant, easy-going on-screen persona...

TaRa Rum Pum is well paced and tells the story in just the amount of time at just the right pace. The grey area is the lack of depth and uninteresting story line. Nevertheless, the film is well packaged like all other Yash Raj films.

The subject of the film may be as dilapidated as Yashraj's ideation team it's only the condiments that make this 'feast' somewhat bearable.
The film begins as a typical love story then attempts to be 'child-friendly' for a while before it finally settles down to be an uninspiring rehash of films like In America and Life Is Beautiful (in the second half).

The race sequences are almost a saving grace. The only letdown here is that they ignore the basic laws of physics . Like, when two cars collide they should slow down, or friction reduces speed. The title track is also fun to look at, although irritating to listen to. The teddy bears in a fantasy world sequence is well executed.

Everything was just about average, acting, direction, screenplay, story, editing (it could very well have been cut short by a good 15-20 minutes). But, while I scoffed every time I was asked to suspend my disbeliefs, the scene was accompanied by a shade of creativity that kept me entertained.

The racing scenes are good for a Hindi movie, but Javed Jaffrey is just to pakau yaar. He hams, and hams and then hams some more.

Be it Saif's live-in-the-present effervescence or Rani's till-death-do-us-part devotion, Ta Ra Rum Pum tangos off to a high simply due to their chemistry. Quite, quite reminiscent of Hum Tum. Of course, the film lacks the originality of Salaam Namastey , where director Siddharth Anand scored with the sheer novelty of the no-holds-barred relationship between Saif and Preity...

Happy family picture is shattered when RV has an accident and loses his winning streak. Now you can't ask a director bent on heavy duty melodrama, why Radhika who, you are told studies music, Elizabethan poetry, maths and foreign languages, suddenly becomes a dumb housewife, who neglects something as basic as insurance and after her husband has had a horrific accident on the tracks.

Technically, 'Tara Rum Pum' gets eight out of 10. Salim Sulaiman once again does wonderfully well in composing the perfect background music. Binod Pradhan's camera work is awesome. Habib Faisal pens slips in some scenes and lets the film loosen its script...
