The film does not make sense. After the first half, you hope that the second half saves the film. No such luck. In fact, the climax is the worst. And this from Ananth Mahadevan who said that Tamil movies are illogical and lack sense.

Poor direction complimented with invisible chemistry and faulty screenplay makes Victoria No. 203 a complete no – no for your entertainment quota. All thumbs down to this remake, which is bound to get bruised at the box office with the help of big films giving it a tough run.

Jimmy Shergill hams throughout. His performance is below average. Soniya Vinod Mehra needs to work on her expressions and her performance is strictly ok. Om Puri and Anupam Kher duo was just satisfactory. Their performance could have been better. Javeed Jaffrey is excellent. Preeti Jhangiani is just OK. Kamal Sadanah is decent.

Tiring tackiness expectedly takes over what's just a series of incidences. Gradually the film squarely settles into the 1972 dated thriller, along with the ghoda-gadi the heroine rides at night - a call-centre she works in at day is the soft modern touch. Even Mumbai, much missed from movies of late, seems more the Fort area of ages ago. Let it gallop.

This remake has the same songs that were chart toppers like Do Bechare and Thoda Sa Thehro from the original, this time redone by Viju Shah, which are quite catchy. But it has one song too many, and the film can certainly do without Deedini, a romantic duet between Jimmy and Soniya which slows the proceedings in the second half.

Om Puri and Anupam Kher make a great pair. Both are excellent at some scenes and ham at times. Javed Jaffrey carries off the role with ease and stands out. Jimmy Shergill has the looks, but lacks behind in acting. Soniya Vinod Mehra is strictly ok. She needs to work on her expressions to make a career in film industry. Kamal Sadanah is competitive. Preeti Jhangiani is bad. Johnny Lever excels.

There are two problems with the film. One- a dull script and two- bad direction. Anant had showed promise in Aksar but in Victoria No. 203, he tried to go very suave and techno, but all that resulted in very badly executed scenes and some ripped off Hollywood action sequences...

Ananth Narayan Mahadevan had an interesting subject on hand that had everything required for a perfect masala entertainer but he prefers to stick to outdated gags which were novel when the original was made in the early 70s and fails.
