Never mind. Ultimately this is an adorable movie made out of an equally lovable kids' story. The endearing bit is that it does not sport the "what do kids know?" attitude. Of course, this is once you are done laughing at the fact that Bobby Deol is being presented as the best star that Bombay has produced. Soon enough, you begin admiring him for taking up this unusual project.

Overall, Nanhe Jaisalmer fails to quench the thirst of the viewers looking for an entertaining cinema, something that the director must look into pretty soon.

The new winner is Vikram Singh aka Nanhe Jaisalmer, directed and written (oh oh, what about those allegations of snitching by another writer?) by Samir Karnik. Kyun controversy ho gaya naa?...

Most importantly, a soul is missing in the film and for a film which takes itself as seriously as this one, it is hara-kiri. Maybe, if Samir Karnik had let Nikhil Saini (whose idea it was originally and who was paid Rs 5 lakhs by the former after being charged for lifting his story) make the film a far truer version would have emerged.

Nanhe Jaisalmer rests squarely on the shoulders of pint-sized child actor Dwij Yadav, who delivers an endearing, uninhibited performance that uplifts this average film considerably.

When his dreams and imagination actually materialise, he is beyond happiness. During Bobby’s shooting schedule in Jaisalmer, they bond with each other and sing songs too. That the songs sound like they were written for a romantic interlude is another matter altogether...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' could have done better without the songs of Himesh Reshammiya. The camerawork by Binod Pradhan is good. And Samir Karnik's directorial skills are definitely more honed in this movie than in his debut venture. However, some people might be put off by the movie's climax.

2 of 2 people found this review helpful No mandatory masala fare trappings, no heroines and a total focus on the main plot, Karnik's script is well mounted. The message which the film tries to give out – It is our faith that fuels our imagination and our imagination that realises our faith - comes across well from the film...
