2 of 5 people found this review helpful Despite the outcome of their mission, in many ways 1971 is about the triumph of the human spirit, it's about courage and determination, about brotherhood and unity. The point is driven home, but it's a pity the director adopts a jingoistic approach to do his job.

4 of 6 people found this review helpful What is credible about the film is that it does not paint the two nations in black and white. Most civilian Pakistanis, especially from the Red Cross, are shown to be sympathetic to the cause of the POWs.
