While the local media has been raving about Sridevi's performance and have even been comparing her to Meryl Streep, the silver lining was the invitation from the premier of Ontario- Dalton McGuinty to congratulate the crew on the film's outstanding success at TIFF.
Sridevi's comeback film English Vinglish, which premiered at the recently held Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), awed the audiences, who responded with a standing ovation. The film which is directed by debutante Gauri Shinde, tells the story of a housewife who enrolls herself for an English speaking course in order to please her husband and family.
Sridevi and Boney Kapoor along with director Gauri Shinde and producer R. Balki met two members of the Provincial Parliament of Indian origin- Harinder Takhar (Minister of Government Services) and Dipika Damerla. Wishing the team all the best for the film's release next month, the Premier of the province of Ontario, McGuinty, seemed mesmerized by the actress.
English Vinglish releases in India on October 5, 2012.
