Styling of Mahie Gill as well as the sets resembled the vintage cinema that has been one of the most cherished treasures of Bollywood. Ask Satish about aping the looks of the 50s heroine and he says, "We had a lot of pictures of Geeta Bali, Vyjayantimala and others. We ended up watching many black and white songs and designed Mahie accordingly. Her hairstyle was inspired by yesteryear heroines like Madhubala and Meenakumari."
Also some unique features of the golden era were kept in mind while designing the sets for the song. Recollecting those memories, Satish says, "The large moon used in the song resembled the Raj Kapoor - Nargis films. The whole song was shot at Filmistan Studio. The song is special because our first schedule for the film kick started with this song."
'Nahi Dungi' will be unveiled exclusively on Bollywood Hungama tomorrow.
'Nahi Dungi' is sung by Roop while it is choreographed by Himanshu Gadani. Satish Kaushik, who is excited about this new combination of musicians and choreographers, says, "Roop has sung some interesting songs long back and one of them featured Salman Khan too. Her voice was very apt for this number since she had the nasal voice we were looking for. The dance moves are slow and cute, with focus on the facial expressions."
The music for the film is given by Dharam - Sandeep. "I believe in introducing new talent and just like Sachiin - Jigar (who debuted with Tere Sang) Dharam and Sandeep too are very talented. They really researched well and found musicians who played musical instruments in that era to help out with the music of our film to get the feel of the song right."
Inspired by the popular Bengali movie Bhooter Bhabishyat, Gang of Ghosts is a paranormal comedy film with characters belonging to different time eras.
One of them is Mahie Gill who belongs to the 50s, and her character Manoranjana Kumari is pretty and funny. She will also be seen dancing around the trees in the upcoming song 'Nahi Dungi'. Talking about the song, director Satish Kaushik says, "It is a quirky romantic number. There is a lot of quirkiness in the lyrics and the way she sings which is set in the 50s. The music is much similar to the old era because Gang of Ghosts has music ranging from 1950 to 2014. We have a retro song at the same time a Haryanvi metallica rock. 'Nahi Dungi' is more like pedh ke aas-paas jhool kar gaaya karte the... that kind of genre."
