The usually fashion-conscious tinsel town often locks horns with the fashion police owing to their overly experimental styles featuring some unflattering colours, silhouettes, cuts and designs. While some believe that minimalism is the key in nailing it, it is also possible to err with minimalism. But what happens when the usually best-dressed celebs commit some unpardonable fashion faux pas? In their bid to engage their fans with some out-of-the box stylish offerings, the stars and their trusted stylists often rope in the latest vogues that may or may not evoke a wow. This week, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, Karan Johar, Taapsee Pannu and Yami Gautam missed the fashion mark by trying to adapt to styles that were not quite up to their alley.
Fashion is forever evolving and style is something that one innately channelizes! This is certainly a lesson that is seldom grasped by even the most amazing style mavericks! Curious, much? Here is the style scoop on all that went down for these celebs this week.
Styled by Shaleena Nathani, Deepika resumed the promotions of Padmaavat wearing a velvet trench blazer from Sandro Paris teamed with Topshop distressed denims with rolled hems and Charlotte Olympia open toed stilettos topping off the look with a centre-parted low back pony with a subtle makeup of dark eyes and nude lips along with a pair of large hoops. This certainly is an experimental look that does not bring out the best of Deepika Padukone owing to the unflattering choice of colour, fabric and the same old boring hairdo.
Styled by Ami Patel, Kangana stepped out for an appearance on the show, India’s Next Superstar wearing a red lacy and sequined creation from Dolce & Gabbana. Sans accessories, she opted for a stunning makeup of shimmery eyelids, delicately lined eyes and nude lips and signature waves – the only saving grace of the OTT look!
Styled by Nikita Jaisinghani, Karan Johar was snapped at an event wearing a blue Gucci blazer with black trousers and black formal shoes. An unflattering colour, we wonder what went wrong with the usually dapper Karan Johar and his style sensibilities?
Styled by Devki Bhatt, Taapsee was snapped wearing a ensemble of hand embroidered chikankari jacket and a khadi suit from The Little Things Studio teamed with pink loafers, minimal makeup, an updo with a multi-coloured head-wrap. A laid back look – Taapsee lacked the whole panache to nail this peachy look!
Styled by Ami Patel, Yami Gautam graced an event recently wearing a Sachin & Babi off-shoulder champagne coloured dress with a high-low hemline. A chic updo with a subtle makeup upped the look but the unflattering choice of blue open-toed sandals were a major let down in this look.
In times when most of the celebs are a interpretation of the styling precisions of their stylists, these celebs were certainly an inspiration for all that should be avoided. Stay tuned for more such updates. Until then, stay stylish and stay tuned to Bollywood Hungama Fashion!
