“We only talk… mostly on Twitter”- Shahid Kapoor Bollywood’s response to Padmaavat controversy : Bollywood News

"I'm proud and glad that people have spoken up and supported but what I'm worried about is that we only talk...mostly on Twitter," said Shahid Kapoor in a Bollywood Hungama exclusive with Faridoon Shahryar. Shahid was reacting to the support that Padmaavat received from within the film industry. He urged the film industry to put up a united front and do something more other than expressing themselves on Twitter. He is of the opinion that in the last few years, it is increasingly becoming difficult for films to find a release that it deserves. He gave the example of Udta Punjab as well.

"I don't think any film has gone through the sort of controversy that Padmaavati has. It's a very unique journey for the film. People were scared to go into the theatres," Shahid said. What was your reaction when Sanjay Leela Bhansali was roughed up on the sets of the film in Rajasthan? "I was very shaken up when I saw that incident," Shahid said.

Shahid Kapoor agrees with Shabana Azmi who is of the opinion that Padmaavat deserves to be India's entry to the Oscars. "I think Padmaavat should be the front runner," he said. Shahid says that he enjoyed the scenes that he had with Ranveer Singh.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali told Shahid post the screening of Padmaavat that, "Tumhe aur Deepika ko ek aur film karni chahiye". Shahid replied, "To banao."

Shahid is excited to work with his Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali once again. "More than Jab We Met, the experience that I had working with Imtiaz and what I think of him as a filmmaker," Shahid said. Kapoor is super excited about Shree Narayan's film Batti Gul Meter Chalu with Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. He promises loads of entertainment in a film that's about a pertinent problem that a huge percentage of Indians experience on a daily basis.
