Known for his chocolate boy looks, although Shahid Kapoor has played characters ranging from grey [Kaminey, Haider] to king [Padmaavat], now the actor is all set for a new look. In his next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Shahid Kapoor will sport a youthful look.
It is a known fact that Shahid Kapoor will play a lawyer in the Shree Narayan Singh directorial. Designers Neelanchal Ghosh and Darshan Jalal have got together with local artisans to jot down the details of Shahid’s avatar.
Confirming the same, Producer Prernaa Arora said, “Shahid plays a young local boy from Uttarakhand who is a diehard romantic. The costume designer duo has been working with artisans in villages of the North Indian state and sourcing fabrics locally to ensure authenticity. Shahid will be wearing lots of bright sweaters and jackets since the story unfolds in winter. Now, all Shahid requires is a young haircut and a clean-shaven, boyish look”.
The producer also divulged that Shraddha Kapoor’s character in the film also belongs to a small town and she will be sporting a lot of ethnic wear as part of her look. She added, “She’s a bubbly girl and quite notorious in the first half of the film. Post interval, her character undergoes a transformation and with her behaviour, her look will also change”.
The pre-production preps are on full swing that are held in Shahid Kapoor’s office in suburban Mumbai. The team of the film including the actors, filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, producer Prernaa Arora and writers Siddharth-Garima have been sitting on script reading sessions and acting workshops.
Prernaa added, “We recently had a reading session with chai, dinner and lots of laughter. Shahid is a terrific actor and has been spending hours every day getting each line and punctuation in his dialogue sheet right. Along with Shree, Siddharth and Garima, he has been adding his own humour to the character and constantly improvising. He’s mastered the local dialect after undergoing training since the beginning of the year”.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu will soon go on floors in Uttarakhand on February 9 and is slated to feature Yami Gautam in the role of a lawyer.
