Ranveer Singh kicks off his next with Alia Bhatt Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy and here’s the proof : Bollywood News

Ranveer Singh is definitely elated currently, with his film Padmavati aka Padmaavat gearing up to hit theatres. The Gen Y star, however, now seems to have moved on to his next project Gully Boy which has been in the pipeline for quite some time now. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt too is said to have joined the rest of the team for the film. The film went on floor on January 14 and Ranveer posted about the same on social media.

Earlier we had reported that Gully Boy is a musical that revolves around the lives of Mumbai street rappers. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, it seems that the entire team of the film came together for the mahurat shot and posting a picture of the same on Instagram was none other than the film’s director Zoya Akhtar. She shared this picture of a clapperboard of the first take of the film on her Instagram page saying, “#herewego #gullyboy #slateit #makingmovies #anotherdayinparadise”. Ranveer Singh too reposted the picture on his social media page.

Talking about the film, it is being said that the film will be based on the real life stories of some popular rappers including Naezy. In fact, Ranveer Singh was recently even spotted hanging out with them so that he can understand their lives better. Besides this, the actor even underwent workshops in order to play a rapper in the film. Furthermore, we hear that Ranveer, in fact, will be rapping a couple of numbers by himself in the said film.

With Alia Bhatt as the leading lady, Gully Boy will also feature Kalki Koechlin in a prominent role of a rapper and also co-producer of the film, Farhan Akhtar in a vital yet special role. Produced under the banner Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby [of Zoya Akhtar], the film is expected to release in the second half of 2018.
