OMG! Suniel Shetty blames media for loss of credibility of award shows

That award shows is losing credibility is a known fact since a long time. After the nominations of an awards show are announced, the netizens usually get up in arms by the way certain actors are conveniently ignored despite giving great performances. The criticisms increase once the results are declared, with many wondering how certain celebrities got a certain award when there were other actors who had done better in the same year. It’s also an open secret that awards are usually given to those who agree to attend the ceremony. There have been instances of celebrities openly demanding that an award in particular category be given out to them and only then will they be present.

Suniel Shetty however feels that it’s the media who’s responsible for the fall in credibility of awards, since its most of the media houses who organize these awards functions. At the trailer launch of the film The Rally, directed by Deepak Anand, who directed him in his debut film Balwaan, Suniel left no stone unturned in talking about this aspect. He said, “Media should be held responsible for that. It’s your channels and newspapers that organize certain award ceremonies and decide that we are going to give this particular award to this particular celebrity because he or she is going to be present for this said award ceremony. So it’s the fault of you guys and not us. You guys decide whom you want to give the award. We don’t ask you to do that.”

On the film front, Suniel Shetty was last seen in a prominent role in Anand Kumar’s Desi Kattey in 2014. He’s coming back to films with A Gentleman, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. Directed by Raj Nidimouru and Krishna DK, it releases on August 25. He has also signed J P Dutta’s war drama Paltan.
