The step sibling love seems to have become the trend of Koffee With Karan 6 and this time it is all about brotherhood. The acting brothers duo, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter came together for the latest episode of the chat show. Ishaan made his debut not only in Bollywood but also on the couch this year.
Karan Johar, in his usual style, gave a brief introduction of sibling love before getting on to invite the men on the couch. The conversation obviously revolved around the Modern Kapoor family dynamics. Readers may be aware that Shahid Kapoor is the son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem whereas Ishaan Khatter is the son of Neelima Azeem and Rajesh Khattar. Yet the bond between the two of them has become stronger with time and Shahid has always been a father figure for him. While their relationship discussion carried off for a brief period, it soon shifted focus to Ishaan’s love life. But like most celebrities, Ishaan remained tight lipped about the rumours of his alleged affair with Tara Sutaria and Sara Ali Khan and denied his affair with Janhvi Kapoor.
When it comes to Janhvi, Karan didn’t let it go off that easily! In fact, he played a video of Arjun Kapoor speaking about Ishaan and how he keeps buzzing around her. The protective brother of Ishaan, Shahid jumped to the rescue asking how much time does Arjun spend around Janhvi to know about Ishaan around her. He further spoke about Ishaan as the buzzy guy! “See Ishaan is buzzing around most people. Janhvi is not special like that, ok! She should know this. He buzzes around many people and it started many years ago. He buzzes around his mother, with me and now you are one of those people he buzzes around.”
When he was further asked about the so called affair, Shahid mentioned that, “I think Janhvi keeps buzzing around him a lot.” To which, Karan was all smiles adding that both brothers think that their siblings are buzzing around each other and concluded it to be a ‘Conflict of Buzzing!’
Not surprisingly, there was also a small section where Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter discussed about the latter’s films. Beyond The Clouds, where Ishaan worked with Majid Majidi was his debut film, followed by Dhadak, a remake of Sairat. They discussed about the reviews of the film and how was newbie Ishaan’s reaction to all of it.
On the other hand, a rather sporting Shahid took his failures with a pinch of salt! Followed by this was the ‘Coffee Shot Round’! The round had some interesting questions about dates and romance and obviously some skeletons tumbled out of the closet. In one of them, Shahid confessed that he did decided to try out Tinder and almost signed himself up but got ‘fataoed’ [scared] and didn’t go for it. Shahid also revealed that Ishaan often spies on him whereas Ishaan revealed that he has dated someone older and that too someone who is 40 plus. This revelation definitely took Karan by a shock and it seems that Shahid already knew about his little bro’s shenanigans.
Post all this hoopla, started the Rapid Fire Round. It was a candid one for Shahid Kapoor who answered almost all questions. The actor had some interesting answers to make. He stated that he would like to set Ishaan with Janhvi. He had a word of advice for Nick Jonas wherein he said, “Never back down buddy, you are with the original desi girl.” The actor also reminisced about the time when he faced financial issues and believes that one of the prime responsibilities of a husband is to earn enough money to take care of his children.
Whereas, in case of Ishaan Khatter, it seems that Shahid was more interested in answering his questions too. However, the newbie did answer to the best of his abilities. The actor did confess that Nepotism is a reality and later, he also revealed that Janhvi’s name in his phone is ‘Are Those Potatoes’. He also reasoned speaking about a particular incident where Janhvi shrieked seeing a huge rock saying, Are Those Potatoes and since then, he hasn’t been able to get over it. Shahid also confessed that Ishaan is a huge fan of Vicky Kaushal. The round, however, was an absolute win for the elder brother who was quite unabashed with his answers.
The game round some crazy and competitive camaraderie between the two brothers and of course, how could the segment be complete without a dance off between the two talented bros. It ended with the usual ‘Phone A Friend’ segment and it eventually ended with Ishaan winning the game.
