FIRST LOOK: Here’s a sneak peek of Richa Chadha as Shakeela : Bollywood News

Last week, we got a glimpse of Richa Chadha as the actress was seen kicking off her prep for Shakeela biopic. The two actresses bonded over varied topics whilst interacting with each other and Richa was equally excited to be the protagonist in the film. Speaking of the film, it is directed by Indrajit Lankesh and recently the makers released the first look of Richa as Shakeela.

FIRST LOOK: Here’s a sneak peek of Richa Chadha as Shakeela

The Indrajit Lankesh directorial will trace the journey of this South actress who eventually became a superstar and ruled the Mollywood for about 2 decades. In the recently released first look of the film, Richa pulls off an authentic Malayali look with panache as she is seen donning the traditional Kerala saree Kasavu Pattu. We hear that the actress has begun shooting for the film in a small town in Karnataka called Tirthahalli.

When asked about the first look, the actress said, "The challenge for the look of the film but also a good one is that the story traces the journey of Shakeela’s younger days to her becoming a popular figure. Thus the looks span over years and years and with each passing time her look changed and thus to show that is challenging but also for me as an actor it’s gratifying that I get to grow with the real character on celluloid. Shakeela is still a legend and we wish to do complete justice to her when the film is ready."

In an earlier interview, Shakeela had confessed about her childhood days and how she became a pillar for the family by earning for them through the varied films. The film is also expected to enter into different phases of Shakeela’s life including her emotional journey.

Make-up artist Tanuja Dabir and hair experts Kunj Shah and Ashis Bogi have been given the responsibility of creating Shakeela’s looks for Richa in the film. They are planning to tap into the simplistic nature of the Malayalam actress and how in real life, she was a complete contrast to what was portrayed in films.
