Her recent appearance, which was not for a film promotion or a red carpet gala, was in a beautiful Banarasi saree for one of her friends’ wedding and the actress posted about the same on Instagram.

The saree that Deepika Padukone has worn in the image was actually a gift and it was presented to her by none other than the evergreen actress Rekha. Known for her love for sarees, Rekha herself has an enviable collection of Kanjeevarams that the actress is seen flaunting time and again. It seems the yesteryear diva was so impressed by Deepika that she decided to present this authentic Banarasi saree.

In fact, sources close to the actress claim that Deepika Padukone received a lot of praises at the wedding especially for the saree and the actress was more than happy to proudly acknowledge that it was gifted to her by the legendary Rekhaji. It is being said that Rekha gifted this saree after being impressed by Padukone’s performance in Bajirao Mastani.

When Deepika decided to wear a Banarasi saree for the function she automatically chose the saree given by Rekha to her. The actress also went out of the way to complete the look. So, she completed her ethnic avatar with a golden choker. She also did her hair in her signature style — slicked back in a bun.

Earlier this week, Rekha also presented the Most Glamorous Award [Female] to Deepika Padukone at the Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards 2017 that was held in Mumbai this weekend. Even during the glitzy evening, the yesteryear diva continued to praise Deepika for her panache and performances.
