The talented actress, who visited Delhi for the movie promotions of Chef, decided to extend her stay for a day so that she can pay a surprise visit to her dance guru Jayalakshmi Eshwar on the eve of Vijayadasmi.
Jayalakshmi is an internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam exponent of par-excellence, choreographer, teacher and an author with an experience of more than 5 decades of dance being a leading Bharatanatyam dancer of her generation. While for some it is about learning something new, for others it is about spreading what they have learnt from their gurus.
Padmapriya Janakiraman informs, “I’ve started learning dance from her when I was in class 3. Akka, as we fondly call her, bonded with her whole army of dancers and we shared gifts, performed on a couple of new steps and ate delicious food on the eve of Vijayadasami, considered as a day to honour guru. It was a wonderful experience and a cacophony of huge bunch of girls laughing and dancing.”
