Ayushmann Khurrana reveals why he will never take up SMOKING : Bollywood News

Ayushmann Khurrana is one of the few Bollywood celebrities, who are against the idea of taking a puff. He has remained tobacco-free from his teenage to his adulthood years and it is a choice that he has made. On the World No-Tobacco Day, Ayushmann revealed the actual reason that kept him away from smoking and why it was necessary for him to do it on screen.

The reason why he never took up smoking was because of a promise he made, years ago to his father. Ayushmann Khurrana, in a recent interview, reportedly confessed that his father was a chain smoker. He mentioned that once he had asked his father about why he doesn’t quit the habit. His father responded to his son’s question saying that he would quit smoking if he [Ayushmann] promised that he would never take up smoking in his life.

Even though Ayushmann Khurrana has religiously followed his promise, the actor has had to do roles on screen which required him to smoke. While the Shubh Mangal Savdhaan actor continues to retain his non-smoking habits off-screen, he has had to do take it up whilst playing a role. For example, he had to do a small scene in Dum Laga Ke Haisha where his wife [played by Bhumi Pednekar] was supposed to catch him smoking. However, since it was a short scene, he had to only take a puff or two.

On the other hand, during the recent shoot of Badhaai Ho, his non-smoking habits caused him health issues. It so happened that the film features him in the role of a chain-smoker and the actor had to puff over 10 drags in a row. Followed by the scene, Ayushmann expressed that he ended up puking after giving the shot.

Furthermore, speaking on how he still manages to play the role on screen, Ayushmann Khurrana had an important advice to add. He maintained that the only two ways, are either one inhales the smoke or doesn’t. He stated in these reports that he is from the second category and that’s how he manages to pull of the smoking scenes on-screen.

The actor also has an advice to everyone that as a parent, it is their responsibility to send out the right message to their kids since they will imbibe their habits from them.
