“Akshay and I are inseparable” – Vipul Shah

After a hat trick of successful films with Akshay Kumar in the form of Aankhen, Waqt and Namastey London, the law of averages caught up with director Vipul Shah as he hit a road block with London Dreams. Now that the film maker is back with his favourite star, close associate and friend in Action Replayy, does one sense an emotional reunion for Vipul here?

"Well, you are forgetting Singh Is Kinng here", smiles Vipul who handed over the reins of directing the fun film to Anees Bazmee, another film maker who has been one of Akshay's favourites. "The relationship angle was different there. I was the producer there, but still, I was a part of all the fun that came with the shooting. I was not just a Mr. Money Bags producer there, but was also creatively involved in the entire process. This is the reason why I never felt any gap after Namastey London."

Getting into a nostalgic trip, Vipul adds, "Shooting with Akshay has always been a terrific experience. This is the reason why I have been working with him film after film. Fortunately for me, the audience has never complained about our coming together yet. They have liked what we make together. I really hope and believe that the trend would continue with Action Replayy."

However, the fact remains that this four film long stint was broken when Vipul Shah went on to make London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. The film didn't work at the box office which was a clear case of law of averages catching up with Vipul. Also, since Ajay (All The Best) and Salman (Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna) were being seen in multiple films around the release of London Dreams last year, one tends to believe that the film wasn't promoted optimally. After this experience, does Vipul further value his association with Akshay who has always stood by him?

"First and foremost, let me state on record, that I am very proud of London Dreams. I have no complains from anyone or about anything", Vipul makes a point here, "A film's success or failure is not in my hand and in all humility I do accept that London Dreams didn't do well. Why should I have any shame in admitting that? Having said that, it is wrong to insinuate that it is just because of London Dreams experience that I am cherishing my relationship with Akshay. I would have been proud of our association regardless of that."

Continuing to an emotional note, Vipul concludes, "I have always felt that Akshay and I are inseparable in so many ways. With Action Replayy, our relationship has gone beyond what it has been for all these years. He is a very important part of my life."
