Ranbir Kapoor is on a roll. No pun intended. When is not making confessions about dating Alia Bhatt or playing Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic, he is opening about his own addictions. In a tell-all interview with GQ, he spoke about how hard it has been trying to kick the butt, but all efforts have been useless. He also revealed that he started smoking at 15 and since then it has been a battle to kick that bad habit. He also said that he made countless trips to Austria to get medically treated to kick the habit. He said that he got injected in ears to help him stop the urge to smoke as he was lacking in his willpower to do so on his own.
Ranbir told GQ, “I quit smoking for four months, and then started rolling cigarettes again just last month – just one or two a day. It’s something I’m scared of because I’ve been a nicotine addict since I was 15, and it’s the worst kind of addiction. It’s taken me trips to Austria, to this doctor who gave me injections in my ears, to help me quit smoking the first time because I don’t think I have the willpower to give it up on my own. But vaping isn’t working for me either – you can’t leave one habit for another. Eventually, it’ll just come back more ferociously.”
It takes a lot to admit one’s bad habits and flaws. We appreciate Ranbir Kapoor for the same. We will soon see him in Raju Hirani’s Sanju. Written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film will also star an ensemble cast in addition to Ranbir Kapoor which includes Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza amongst others. Produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios. Sanju is all set to be released on June 29, 2018.
