The Sandeep Vanga directed film Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor in the title role released last week across 3123 screens in the domestic market. With positive reviews, the film which is a remake of Arjun Reddy opened on a high note, and continued to see growth over its opening weekend.

Collecting Rs. 70.83 cr Kabir Singh that has far exceeded expectations has managed to surpass the collections of Kalank that had collected Rs. 62.75 cr to become the fourth highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. If that wasn’t all, the business of Kabir Singh has managed to record better collections than other releases as well, like Total Dhamaal that collected Rs. 62.40 cr, Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi that collected Rs. 41.35 cr, Student of the Year 2 that collected Rs. 38.83 cr, De De Pyaar De that collected Rs. 38.54 cr, and Uri - The Surgical Strike that collected Rs. 35.73 cr.
However, despite the positive reviews, good word of mouth and immense promotions, the business of Kabir Singh does not manage to surpass other releases like Bharat that collected Rs. 150.10 cr, Kesari that collected Rs. 78.07 cr, and Gully Boy that had collected Rs. 72.45 cr.
As of now, Kabir Singh continues to enjoy the audience’s favour and remains as their first choice in theatres. Now all that remains to be is seen, is whether Kabir Singh goes on to become one of the highest opening week grossers of the year.
