Films are coming, films are running well, and films are disappearing as well. However, Kabir Singh is on a trip of its own. This was evidenced on Saturday as well when Rs. 1.65 crores* came in. The numbers are more than the sum total of new Hindi releases, which gives a good indication of how the film is on a roll.
The Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer has pushed its way to the Rs. 268.94 crores* total and is well on track to cross the Rs. 270 crores milestone today. Kabir Singh has clearly contributed hugely to Bollywood's report card in 2019 and if there are a couple of more pleasant surprises like this in the remainder of the year as well then there would indeed be a lot to rejoice.
In fact another pleasant surprise is Article 15 which has done quite well for its genre and is still fetching audiences. On Saturday, Rs. 0.75 crores* more came in which has pushed the total to Rs. 62.03 crores*. This was needed as well so that the Anubhav Sinha directed film stays on track for the Rs. 70 crores lifetime. While there is further push expected today as well, one waits to see how it performs in week to follow. Ayushmann Khurranna has yet another hit up his sleeves even in a drama genre and is now gearing up for light hearted films Bala and Dream Girl next.
