The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai was expected to have a huge opening. And sure enough, it has set the box office on fire with its collections that has brought cheer amongst everyone – the viewers, the producers, trade, industry and exhibitors. It released on a non-Holiday Friday on December 22 and yet it managed to collect Rs. 34.10 crore, which was a record of sorts. The growth was marginal on Day 2 (Rs. 35.30 crore) but on Sunday, the film created frenzy like never before. It managed to collect, believe it or not, as much as Rs. 45.53 crore, which has taken everyone by surprise! The film’s three-day collections stand at a huge Rs. 114.93 crore.
As of now, Tiger Zinda Hai has set the following landmarks for a Hindi film:
1) It has recorded the highest non-holiday day one in history
2) It has managed a record holiday/non-holiday three-day weekend in history
3) It has managed to have the highest single largest day in history; i.e. Day three
And today being a Christmas holiday, the collections of this Ali Abbas Zafar directed film are once again expected to be huge. If it collects more than Rs. 35.07 crore on Day 4, it will get into Rs. 150 crore club and that would be another huge feat!
