Box Office: Thugs of Hindostan become the 17th All Time highest opening week grosser

The Yash Raj Films venture Thugs of Hindostan has been one of the most keenly anticipated releases of recent times. Starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Katrina Kaif the film was touted as one of the most ambitious projects of 2018. After opening on a good note, the business of Thugs of Hindostan saw a sharp decline in collections. Now after a week’s run, we take a look at the collections of Thugs of Hindostan while comparing the same to previous releases.

Box Office Thugs of Hindostan become the 17th All Time highest opening week grosser

Collecting just Rs. 140.40 cr in its opening week Thugs of Hindostan ranks as the seventeenth all time highest opening week grosser. Surprisingly, the film which was marketed as one of the biggest ventures from Yash Raj Films seems to have underperformed considerably due to the mixed reviews and rather disagreeable word of mouth. However, despite this the opening week business of Thugs of Hindostan still manages to place the film higher up on the list as compared to releases like Golmaal Again that collected Rs. 136.07 cr, Bang Bang that collected Rs. 135.45 cr, and Raees that collected Rs. 118.36 cr.

Unfortunately, despite enjoying the widest release across 5000 screens in the domestic market, the business of Thugs of Hindostan does not manage to surpass the collections of other previous releases like Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion that collected Rs. 247 cr, Sultan that collected Rs. 229.16 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai that collected Rs. 206.04 cr, Sanju that collected Rs. 202.51 cr, Dangal that collected Rs. 197.54 cr, Dhoom 3 that collected Rs. 188.99 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 184.62 cr, PK that collected Rs. 183.09 cr, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that collected Rs. 172.82 cr, Krrish 3 that collected Rs. 166.52 cr, Padmaavat that collected Rs. 166.50 cr, Kick that collected Rs. 164.09 cr, Happy New Year that had collected Rs. 157.57 cr, Chennai Express that collected Rs. 156.70 cr, Ek Tha Tiger that had collected Rs. 154.21 cr and Race 3 that collected Rs. 140.74 cr.

As of now, with dwindling favour Thugs of Hindostan finds among the audience coupled with the fact that newer releases are sure to eat into the film’s business, expectation are that the collections of Thugs of Hindostan will face a tough road ahead.
