The Varun Dhawan – Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga – Made in India released last week on Friday. The Sharat Katariya directed film which hit a total of 2500 screens opened on a slow note. However, with positive reviews and strong word of mouth, the business of the film saw immense growth in collections over the weekend.
In this box office report, we take a look at the Opening Weekend collections of Sui Dhaaga while comparing the same to Varun Dhawan’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 36.60 cr in three days, Sui Dhaaga – Made in India has become Varun Dhawan’s sixth highest opening weekend grosser surpassing the collections of Varun’s earlier releases like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 33.74 cr, Student of the Year that collected Rs. 30 cr, Badlapur that collected Rs. 23.5 cr, Main Tera Hero that collected Rs. 22.73 cr, and October that collected Rs. 18.25 cr.
However, despite the spike in collections, the business of Sui Dhaaga does not manage to overtake the collections of some of Varun’s other releases like Dilwale that collected Rs. 65.09 cr, Judwaa 2 that collected Rs. 59.25 cr, ABCD 2 that collected Rs. 46.35 cr, Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 43.05 cr, and Dishoom that collected Rs. 37.32 cr.
As of now, with little to no competition from previous and new releases, Sui Dhaaga – Made in India which remains as the audiences’ first choice in theatres is expected to continue to grow. In fact, advance predictions state that with the current rate of growth, the business of Sui Dhaaga is likely to cross the Rs. 50 cr mark within its first week in theatres.
