The Sharat Katariya directed film Sui Dhaaga – Made in India starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma released last week on Friday across 2500 screens in the domestic market. After opening on a sluggish note, the business of the film saw good growth thanks to the positive reviews and strong word of mouth from the audience.
In this box office analysis, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Sui Dhaaga while comparing the same to the previous releases of 2018. Collecting Rs. 36.60 cr, Sui Dhaaga – Made in India which was massively promoted has managed to become the eighth highest opening weekend grosser of 2018. In fact, the business of the film has managed to perform better than other releases like Veere Di Wedding that collected Rs. 36.52 cr, Dhadak that collected Rs. 33.67 cr, Raazi that collected Rs. 32.94 cr, and Stree that collected Rs. 31.26 cr.
However, the business of Sui Dhaaga does not manage to out beat the business of certain other releases like Sanju that collected Rs. 120.06 cr, Race 3 that collected Rs. 103 cr, Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 73.10 cr, Gold that collected Rs. 70.05 cr, Satyameva Jayate that collected Rs. 52.25 cr, Raid that collected Rs. 41.01 cr, and Pad Man that collected Rs. 40.05 cr.
Currently, with Sui Dhaaga – Made in India enjoying a stellar run at the cinemas with little to no competition, all that remains to be seen is whether the film manages to become one of this year’s highest grossers. In fact, predictions state that Sui Dhaaga given its current trend is likely to cross the Rs. 50 cr mark within its first week itself.
