The much talked about and keenly anticipated film Tiger Zinda Hai hit screes yesterday. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the title roles as Tiger and Zoya, the action packed entertainer released across 4600 screens within the domestic market.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening day collections of Tiger Zinda Hai while comparing the same to previously released films of 2017. Collecting Rs. 34.10 cr the Yash Raj Films production Tiger Zinda Hai has become the second highest opening day grosser of 2017. Though unable to surpass the mammoth collections of Baahubali – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 41 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai which is a sequel to the previously released film Ek Tha Tiger does manage to out beat other releases this year like Golmaal Again that had collected Rs. 30.14 cr, Tubelight that collected Rs. 21.15 cr, Raees that collected Rs. 20.42 cr, Judwaa 2 that collected Rs. 16.1 cr, Jab Harry Met Sejal that collected Rs. 15.25 cr, Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 13.2 cr, Toilet - Ek Prem Katha that collected Rs. 13.1 cr and Baadshaho that collected Rs. 12.6 cr.
But if that wasn’t enough, Tiger Zinda Hai, whose advance bookings opened on Sunday, almost a week before its release, saw a massive response from audience, also sees little to no competition from other releases. Given this fact and the fact that the film has been one of the most anticipated releases all that remains to be seen is whether the film manages to become one of the highest grossers of the year.
