It’s time for some Diwali bonanza, now that Golmaal Again is arriving this Friday. The film is arriving in a season when audiences have thankfully started to return to theaters, what with Judwaa 2 bringing in the entertainment quotient. The fact that Golmaal Again belongs to the same genre as Judwaa 2 spells good news for the industry as audiences interest in such affairs seems to have been rekindled. Moreover, as a franchise Golmaal has been going pretty strong and craze for fourth in the series is good as well.
The film sees the coming together of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty who have made nine films together already. Golmaal Again marks their tenth film which is a major milestone and is a testimony of how the actor-director ‘jodi’ has been delivering consistently for a decade now. Add to that the regular team of Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemmu into the mix and Golmaal Again turns out to be a hot property indeed.
Had the film arrived solo, it would have created a storm no less and an opening day in the vicinity of Rs. 30 crore could well have been on the cards. However, there is competition in the form of Secret Superstar which means not just would the screens be divided, audiences too would have another major option to check out, especially since the film features Aamir Khan in a key role as well.
All of this means that even though Golmaal Again may not score the kind of massive number that it potentially could have, a number in the vicinity of Rs. 20 crore is still on the cards. The film is releasing a day after Diwali and since it is partial holiday in many parts of the country, there would be an advantage for sure. However, Secret Superstar would take away some audience as well which would neutralize this advantage. Nonetheless, anything in the vicinity of Rs. 20 crore would be great news for the film which is touted to be the next Rs. 100 crore success in the offering for Bollywood.
