On its release, Fukrey [2013] had seen Rs. 2.60 crore coming on its first day. On the basis of good word of mouth, the film saw good growth in days to come and eventually gathered Rs. 37 crore, hence emerging as a Hit. During the last four years, the film has enjoyed a good recall value for itself. No wonder, practically the entire cast of the film has been retained for Fukrey Returns with Pulkit Samrat and Richa Chadha leading from the front, Varun Sharma as the usual suspect and Ali Fazal along with Manjot Singh supporting them well.
What also helps the film is the fact that it is releasing three weeks after Tumhari Sulu, the last film to do well at the Box Office, and that means audiences are waiting for something at least marginally exciting to arrive in theaters. Since the promo of Fukrey Returns is more than just decent and the comic quotient is expected to strike again (albeit to a lesser degree) after Golmaal Again, the film does have a chance to see at least a fair opening at the Box Office.
As things stand today, the film should see an opening day of Rs. 3-4 crore as it is practically the only notable release this Friday. Post that it would all boil down to word of mouth. Since the investment is again controlled for this Excel Entertainment film, business in the range of Rs. 20 crore would also be fair enough to help it get into the green zone.
