Box Office: Jagga Jasoos registers the 7th highest opening weekend of 2017

The latest flick Jagga Jasoos starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif and directed by Anurag Basu released last Friday. The film was delayed multiple times due to which its costs escalated and it became victim to lot of negativity. The fantasy drama had a poor opening and not much was expected from its box office performance. However, it surprised the trade after it picked up substantially on Saturday and later also on Sunday.

In this box office analysis, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Jagga Jasoos while comparing the same to previous releases of 2017. It can be clearly seen that films that were made at a much lesser costs had a much better weekend than Jagga Jasoos. The film earned Rs 33.17 cr and ranks as the seventh highest opening weekend grosser of 2017, much behind the previous releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 128 cr, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees that had collected Rs. 93.24 cr, Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil that had collected Rs. 67.46 cr, Salman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight that had collected Rs 64.77 cr, Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2 that had collected Rs 50.46 cr and Varun Dhawan starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania that had collected Rs. 43.05 cr.

It is only marginally better than Arjun Kapoor starrer Half Girlfriend that earned Rs 32.04 cr in its first weekend.
