Jagga Jasoos has managed a first week number of Rs. 46.29 crore at the Box Office. Right through the week there were fair numbers that kept coming in. Though even better footfalls between Monday and Thursday would have spelt good fortunes for the film, the fact that it has at least hung on means there is no full-on rejection per se.
In fact just to draw a comparison, Ranbir Kapoor's 'rejected' film Besharam too had a similar first week had Rs. 50 crore had come in. However, to think of it, the film had reached this milestone after a stupendous first day of Rs. 21.56 crore (also because of the fact that it had released on Gandhi Jayanti). In case of Jagga Jasoos, the film had less than 50% start of Rs. 8.57 crore and has somehow managed to come close to a similar Week One as Besharam.
In its second week, Munna Michael is of course a major competition since it too is a fun entertainer and is targeted at youth. The Tiger Shroff film is releasing too at a huge screen count of around 3000. Jagga Jasoos has managed some sore of shows for it. The film is definitely not going the Barfi! way (which moved from Rs. 57.5 crore Week One to Rs. 112 crore lifetime) and now the eventual lifetime would be somewhere around Rs. 60 crore.
Theatrically, the film is a Flop!
