The Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos performed well on Day 2 and Day 3 after a not-so-great Day 1. This musical drama, directed by Anurag Basu, suffered a great deal due to multiple delays and negativity surrounding it. As a result, its opening day collections were affected.
In this box office report, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Jagga Jasoos while comparing the same to Ranbir Kapoor’s previous releases. Thanks to a good performance on Saturday and Sunday, Jagga Jasoos managed to earn Rs. 33.17 cr and emerged as Ranbir Kapoor’s eighth highest opening weekend grosser. It surpassed the collections of Ranbir’s 2015 film Roy that had collected Rs 28.68 cr and his 2010 romcom Anjaana Anjaani that had collected Rs. 20.51 cr. However, its earnings were way behind some of Ranbir’s other releases like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that had collected Rs. 62.11 cr, Besharam that had collected Rs. 47.69 cr, Tamasha that had collected Rs. 38.23 cr, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that had collected Rs. 35.60 cr, Barfi! that had collected Rs. 34.60 cr, Raajneeti that had collected Rs. 33.63 cr and Rockstar that had collected Rs 33.60 cr. It’s astonishing that it couldn’t beat the collections of Barfi! since both films are in somewhat similar zone and cater to the same kind of audience. Also, if Jagga Jasoos had collected just Rs 0.47 cr more, it would have beaten the opening weekend earnings of Raajneeti and Rockstar and emerged as the sixth highest Opening Weekend grosser of Ranbir.
