Thankfully, Bollywood has been alive and active for a month now. First the Superhit success of Judwaa 2 and now the Blockbuster run of Golmaal Again has ensured that audience interest is back in the movies. The good trend is pretty much expected to continue this Friday as well, what with Ittefaq gearing up for release.
The film is one of the rare whodunit mysteries that has actually manage to generate some interest amongst the audiences. An exciting genre like this is surprising untapped in Bollywood and now that Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan have come together to present it in the form of Ittefaq, one indeed looks forward to some intriguing stuff.
Commercially, both Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha haven't really seen a very rosy time with their last couple of releases. However, a film like Ittefaq works on the basis of subject, execution and word of mouth, and this is what's expected to go in favor of the film.
So far, the promos have made for a suspenseful watch and if the final product too turns out to be as exciting as what has been suggested so far, Bollywood could well be having a winner in hands. The original Ittefaq [Rajesh Khanna, Nanda] is considered as a classic today, and rightly so, due to the Hitchcockian treatment that director Yash Chopra had brought to it. Now first time director Abhay Chopra is expected to do the same as well with this 2017 version that has Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna coming together.
The film is expected to take a decent beginning of Rs. 4-5 crore on its first day and then grow well over the weekend basis word of mouth.
