There years ago when Queen hit the screens, it collected Rs. 1.75 crore on its opening day, only to grow from strength to strength after bringing in Rs. 19.70 crore in its Week One and then eventually concluding with a lifetime score of Rs. 62 crore. Now Hindi Medium is pretty much following this trajectory as well, what with Rs. 25.21 crore coming in after the Day One of Rs. 2.81 crore! The film has already collected almost 10 times the Friday number which means the word of mouth has come into play big time. There is a lot that the film can do further from this point on since the content has been accepted by the audience and hence family footfalls could well help the collections soar further in the second week.
As for Half Girlfriend, the film has seen its target audience (youth, especially in smaller centres) relate to it and bringing in decent footfalls over the weekdays. The film has seen Week One collections of Rs. 49.19 crore and that is fine considering the kind of backlash that it received from the critic response perspective. The film didn't grow much over the weekend but then the weekdays didn't crash and that has allowed the Mohit Suri flick to step into Week Two with decent show count.
