Finally there is some good news for Bollywood. After weeks of waiting for something substantial to arrive in Bollywood, this week's releases Hindi Medium and Half Girlfriend have turned out to be good successes at the Box Office. Though the weekend was fine for the two films, the key was to survive well right through the week as well. This is what made collections from Monday to Wednesday important as well. Now that this has happened, one can firmly say that the twin releases have brought on some smiles back for the exhibitors and distributors who were waiting for a Hindi release to do well (of course after the phenomenal success of Baahubali 2 [Hindi]).
Let's talk about Hindi Medium first. The film collected Rs. 3.10 crore on Wednesday which is quite good, considering the fact that the weekdays have stayed over the Rs. 3 crore mark right through. The film is doing particularly well in the evening and night shows owing to its good appeal amongst the working class segment which is giving it a dekko after the office hours. Standing at Rs. 22.11 crore currently, the Irrfan Khan starrer is now on its way to become a clean Hit at the Box Office. For Dinesh Vijan and T-Series, this is good prelude to their next release together, Raabta.
As for Half Girlfriend, it is set to be Mohit Suri's another good success after Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. The film should now wipe off the disappointment of Hamari Adhuri Kahaani as it collected Rs. 4.02 crore more on Wednesday, hence bringing its total to Rs. 45.63 crores. The film has held on decently right through the week and should add on to the moolah for all involved. While Arjun Kapoor now has another success in hand after Ki & Ka, Shraddha Kapoor too can leave the disappointments of Rock On 2 and Ok Jaanu behind.
