The third installment in the Hate Story franchise released yesterday. The film, Hate Story 3 featuring Zarine Khan, Sharman Joshi and Karan Singh Grover got off to a decent start. In fact, despite the competition from other releases Hate Story 3 managed to hold its own emerging as the leader from the pack.
In this Box Office report we take a look at the success of the Hate Story franchise, with a retrospective look at the collections of previous two releases in the franchise. Not surprisingly, the franchise which kick started in 2012 has been gaining a following, which is evident from the increase in the latest installment's box office collection.
Apart from collections, while the first film in the series saw a release across 1078 screens Hate Story 2 released in 1955 screens; however Hate Story 3 featured an even bigger release across 2690 screens. Coupled with this wide release the good response the film has been receiving has certainly added to its overall profitability. In fact with the original Cost of Production pegged at Rs. 6.5 crores, Print and Publicity of Rs. 6.70 crores, the total production value of the film stands at Rs. 13.2 crores which will be recovered from the weekend collections only.
Now after releasing on decent note and posting good opening day figures, post its weekend collections, plus revenue generated from satellite and music right sales will ensure moolah for its makers ensuring the franchise success and possibly Hate Story 4 sometime next year.
