Earlier this year when Jagga Jasoos and Half Girlfriend released, expectations were of a good weekend on the cards. However, neither of the films really met expectations though the weekend numbers were still decent enough at Rs. 33.17 crore and Rs. 32.04 crore respectively. The next best weekend number of the year after these two films was scored by Sachin - A Billion Dreams which brought in Rs. 28.05 crore.
Well, Fukrey Returns has done much better than that as Rs. 32 crore* came in over the weekend. Even if this number would have been collected over the entire first week, the film would still have emerged as a Hit. However, the fact that there are four more days to go before the close of week means there is so much more on the cards by this Mrighdeep Singh Lamba directed film.
It is now time to see how much bigger would the film turn out to be at the end of first week. Since it is pretty much on the cards that Rs. 50 crore number would be surpassed, the entire first week total of Jagga Jasoos [Rs. 46.29 crore] and Half Girlfriend [Rs. 49.19 crore] is set to be history. Since next in line would be the weekend total of Jab Harry Met Sejal [Rs. 59.65 crore], one can well imagine the big arena that Fukrey Returns is finding itself in.
