Box Office: Baaghi 2 beats Padmaavat; collects Rs. 25.10 cr. on Day 1

Now these are the kind of turnarounds that I truly love about the Bollywood Box Office. While it had seemed that Baaghi 2 would take a good opening on Friday, it is no more about just good or very good. It isn’t a smash opening either. It is truly bumper and that can well be seen with the kind of numbers that have poured in.

Box Office - Baaghi 2 beats Padmaavat; collects Rs. 25.10 cr. on Day 1

The film has registered mind blowing collections all over the country what with (hold your breath) as good as Rs. 25.10 crore coming in.

Yes, you read it right!

Tiger Shroff, with just his fifth film, has managed to entice audiences enough on the very first day of release. When the film started in the morning and afternoon shows, it seemed like 15 crore mark would definitely be surpassed. By the time evening shows commenced it was apparent that the film would cross the Padmaavat Day One of Rs. 19 crore. As night shows began, it seemed like Rs. 20 crore was definitely on the cards. However, the unbelievable happened when crowds started pouting in huge numbers towards the late night shows as well. This is what brought the turnaround and results are there to be seen.

Of course there was partial holiday of Good Friday as well but still to have numbers like these is not just unbelievable but also unprecedented.

One has to credit producer Sajid Nadiadwala for going all out to pitch Baaghi 2 as a major biggie despite a young star on board. This is reason why now Baaghi 2 is his second biggest opener ever after Salman Khan‘s Kick [Rs. 26.52 crore]. On the other hand Fox Star, which has co-produced the film, has continued its good run of backing hardcore commercial cinema. After Bang Bang [Rs. 27.54 crore], Baaghi 2 start is yet another fantastic outing for them.

Today’s collections may come out lesser than yesterday due to Friday being a partial holiday. Still, the Ahmed Khan directed film is now set to be a success and what has to be seen is how big does it eventually turn out to be.
