As expected, Andhadhun saw a gold jump in numbers on Saturday as Rs. 5 crore came in. With this the film has reached Rs.7.40 crore. Considering the fact that by and large the reviews were quite positive and feedback amongst elite audiences was quite encouraging as well, it was a given that there would be added momentum for the film. If the trend continues on Sunday as well and then there is stability from Monday too then this could well turn out to be another success for Ayushmann Khurranna. However for that collections over next two-three days would be the deciding factor.
On the other hand Loveyatri is staying low, though it was predicted in this column that the collections may have an edge over Andhadhun. However if the first day was behind then the second day wasn’t any better. This had also to do with largely below average reviews and word of mouth which didn’t do justice to the film. The collections so far are much lower than that of Hero with which Salman Khan had launched Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. With only Rs. 2.10 crore coming on Saturday, the overall numbers are so far are Rs. 4.10 crore.
Nonetheless, more was expected from both the films but right now it is word of mouth which is turning out to be the deciding factor. Last week’s release Sui Dhaaga has taken forward the good run that Bollywood is enjoying and hence one hoped that at least one of the two new releases would emerge as a straight success. While Loveyatri is not quite in the race currently, at least Andhadhun still has a chance to strike well if the collections keep the momentum on.
