While on one hand the epic Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion has grossed over Rs. 1500 cr at the worldwide box office, on the other hand the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal that released in December 2016 has now managed to cross the Rs. 1200 cr mark. With Dangal now blowing well past the Rs. 1000 crore benchmark, and continuing its run in theatres within the Chinese market, Indian cinema now has two massive money spinners that have released in less than six months.
Interesting, while Baahubali 2 released more or less simultaneously in most markets, Dangal that hit screens last year, witnessed its release in China just over a few weeks ago has managed not only to wow the audience but has also emerged as one of the highest grossing films. In fact, Dangal has managed to rake in a whopping Rs. 1247 cr with Rs. 545 cr coming in from the Chinese market, Rs. 22 cr from the Taiwan box office and Rs, 716 cr coming in from the rest of the world market.
