After MAST, several soothsayers predicted a golden period for Aftab Shivdasani. But nothing of the sort happened. Currently going through a rough patch in his career, Aftab has pinned his hopes on his new release KYA YEHI PYAAR HAI, which opens today (Friday, March 22).
Not affected by the ups and downs of the game, Aftab continues to be cool about the entire thing. "I believe in giving my best to every project. What matters eventually is that people appreciate my work, the youngster states. After a pause, Aftab tries to pinpoint the reasons that led to the failure of KOI MERE DIL SE POOCHHE. "It was not my film. The movie belonged to Sanjay and Esha. The project seemed exciting on paper, but the end result was something else," says a disappointed Aftab.
But he seems more than confident of K.Y.P.H. "It's not the usual love story. It's the clash of ideas of two individuals. The movie emphasizes that love is not everything in life," Aftab says.
The movie seems like a make or break situation for him. "I don't know about that. But I definitely hope that this film proves a win-win situation for me," he flashes his famous smile, adding in the same vein, I just hope it works for all of us. I'm happy with the way it has shaped up."
His forthcoming films include PYAASA and SUNO SASURJEE, which have been in the making for quite some time now. "PYAASA has been in the making for the last one year and that's pretty normal. We did re-shoot certain portions recently and that was done to enhance the prospects of the film. As for SUNO SASURJEE, the film is already complete. I've even completed three-fourths of my dubbing," clarifies Aftab.
But why isn't he doing any film with his mentor Ramgopal Varma? "May be he doesn't have a role for me. If he thinks that he has a character that I can portray, we will definitely work together," he adds.
