Writer-turned-debutant director Shagufta Rafique has ambitious plans for her film (titled Rose), which is based on the theme of a raped housewife. While she hunts for the young woman who plays the part, she may also have to search for the man who would be playing the male lead.
Reason being the ultra hectic schedule of Emraan Hashmi, her first choice.
Will Emraan have dates for Shagufta Rafique’s Rose?"If Shagufta plans to begin her film this year, it is virtually impossible to rope in Emraan," says an insider, "He just doesn't have dates. Now that Ghanchakkar is out, he would step into the promotion of Ungli. Then there is Badtameez Dil with Kareena Kapoor, for which he begins shooting soon. In between there is also his international flick White Lies which would be readied for release."
Add to that Invisible with Bhatts, that he begins early next year as well as a film with Kunal Deshmukh and Emraan's diary looks full till November next year. Meanwhile one also hears that he has been roped in for Mahesh Bhatt's Dil Hai Ki Maanta Hai remake as well.
"In all fairness to Shagufta, she can't be expected to wait till the end of year. Why should she? She has waited for so long already to make her directorial debut. In any case she hasn't closed her options with Emraan. She has been heard saying that Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are her other choices as well," a source adds.
While one looks forward to whether Shagufta turns lucky with a mainstream superstar or just like her mentors Bhatts, she ends up creating one by giving him a launch-pad; Emraan isn't saying an absolute no yet.
"I have not signed the film but we are still in talks. The only problem is that I am doing a few films till November next year and if at all I sign any new film, it would have to start post that," says Emraan, "Let me still go through the script though. I would be making any concrete decision only post that."
That may also give Shagufta a breather to ponder over her other choices and keep Plan B in place. Says Shagufta, "I have just completed my script and not approached any actor or actress as yet. I had said that Emraan, Ajay and Akshay are on my wish list."
