Vivek-Kareena in Nittin Keni’s next:

Director Vivek Agnihotri of Chocolate fame is fuming over ex-actress Sharmila Tagore, as the Chief of the Censor Board has banned Viveks ad film he made for a brand of flavoured condoms called XXX.

The commercial shows a Caucasian woman biting a fruit and licking her chocolate-laden fingers. The scene is followed by a voiceover, Whats your flavour tonight? Tagore accused the ad of being explicit and vulgar. She said that many people have been approaching her to forbid this ad from being aired as it hurts the sensibilities of the Indian viewers. Sharmila has passed on the case to ASCI (Advertising Standards Council of India) saying that the particular ad does not come under the purview of the Censor Board. She also said that awareness about condoms is necessary due to the AIDS problem in our country; however it should not be done in a suggestive manner.

In his defense, Vivek Agnihotri said that the ad is not vulgar. He lamented that Tagore is encouraging illiterate persons to not use flavoured condoms, thus creating a faulty mindset. He also said that this is insincere for an actress who has sported bikinis in her films. He went on to saying that self-appointed moral judges like Mrs. Tagore must be sacked.

DKT, the NGO that has produced this ad, has no awareness of dealing with Indian bureaucracy and red-tapism. A disappointed Vivek said that not only has a lot of money been wasted but also the wrong signal has been sent out to the Indian viewers, who are being encouraged to live in the dark.

On the movie front, Vivek Agnihotri will soon be starting his sports based film titled Goal under the UTV banner. The film stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Arshad Warsi in lead roles.
