Mumbai, September 24, 2003: Universal Music India has acquired the music rights of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's much awaited film -'Munnabhai M.B.B.S.'. Anu Malik has composed the music to lyrics by Rahat Indori & Abbas Tyrewala. The music will be launched on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and the film is slated for a Christmas release. Munnabhai M.B.B.S. is directed by Raju Hirani and scripted by him and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. This is the latest project under the esteemed banner of Vinod Chopra Productions to hit the silver screens this year. Universal Music, which has been, involved with prestigious Bollywood projects like Sholay and Devdas is extremely proud to be associated with this mega project. 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S' has a special appeal because it is for the first time that Sunil Dutt will play the reel life father of Sanjay Dutt, also starring in this film. Sunil Dutt has made this exception because of the appealing script and is starring in a unique role after a hiatus of nearly 18 years. Along with Sunil and Sanjay Dutt, this 'feel good' film stars Boman Irani, Jimmy Shergill, Arshad Warsi, Rohini Hattangadi and Gracy Singh. The film traces the journey of Munnabhai aka Sanjay Dutt, a local tapori who finds himself in a medical college with a burning desire to become a doctor to fulfill his father's dreams and to also meet his ladylove Dr. Suman played by Gracy Singh.
