Veteran actor-director Tinu Anand is making his theatre debut in a play called Sugandhi. True to his onscreen persona the director of Shahanshah, Kaliya and Main Azaad Hoon will play Madho, a conniving man who extracts money from a prostitute instead of paying her for her services. Anand says he was fascinated with theatre since his young age. Sugandhi is based on Manto's world famous story Hatak, which is about a prostitute who falls in love with one of her customers, played by Anand. Sugandhi thinks Madho will start living with her and will pull her out of the flesh trade, reveals Anand. But he only exploits her financially and sexually by making false promises of love and fidelity. The play will premiere on May 29 at Manik Sabhagrah, Bandra (Mumbai).
