It's happened yet again - there seems to be a virtual race to attempt/remake/Indianize the same subject by different producers. You may find this hard to believe, but at least three producers are planning to rehash the Hollywood flick DIRTY DANCING [starring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey] in Hindi. * According to sources, the dress designer turned director is attempting to remake this 1987 hit, with slight changes in the storyline. He has almost finalized the star cast of the film and is currently working on the music, we're told. * A reputed producer, known for churning out films one after the other, is having a round of talks with a young choreographer to handle the directorial reins of the desi version of DIRTY DANCING. He may not have finalized the cast, but the speed at which he works, his adaptation might hit the screens first, before anybody else's version does, for all you know. * Not to be left behind, the veteran film-maker, who's going through a rough patch professionally, is gearing up to bounce back with a musical and what better subject than DIRTY DANCING, he feels. Reportedly, he is planning to cast three well-known models to essay the main roles. Let's hope the clash doesn't go the THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH - 23RD MARCH 1931 SHAHEED way.
