For long years, the audio industry paid peanuts to filmmakers for the music of their films. The revolution started when the Late Gulshan Kumar of T-Series began paying hefty amounts for the music and the fever caught on. The hottest deal in the recent time has been struck by actor-producer Aamir Khan with Sony music for his home production Lagaan. The Khan got Rs. 7 crores out of which Rs. 2.5 crores has been allotted for publicity and the remaining chunk of Rs. 4.5 crores goes straight into Aamir’s pockets. Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s coveted Devdas got paid a huge Rs. 3.75 crores. The deal is exclusive of a monthly stipend of Rs.2 lakhs till November this year to be paid by Tips for it’s talented music director Ismail Darbar, plus a fee of Rs.2 lakhs per song composition
