Sohail Khan to launch Mujhe Pyar Hua:

Sohail Khan is performing dual duties these days. Besides donning the grease paint and facing the camera as an actor, the actor cum director is focussing on film production plans as well.

Although Sohail has quite a few films in his kitty as an actor, the media-shy brother of Salman Khan is keeping himself busy as a producer simultaneously. Sohail has just returned from U.K. after completing the shooting of I PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN, which stars three actors from India Sohail himself, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Aasif Sheikh. The remaining actors are from a neighbouring country and some from England, Sohail tells me.

The entire shooting of I PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN was wrapped up in a 40-day start-to-finish shooting schedule in London.

Directed by Puneet Sira, the Indian actors in the film have delivered their lines in their mother tongue, but the English actors will be seen mouthing their dialogue in English. It’s a Hindi film no doubt, but wouldn’t it look odd if the English actors speak in Hindi?, Sohail quips.

Sohail is planning to release the film in January next year. Ideally, I’d be delighted if the film hits the screens on January 26, 2004 [Republic Day] since it talks of national integration, Sohail adds.

With I PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN in its post-production stages currently, Sohail has already embarked on his next production LUCKY. Starring Salman Khan in the lead, the film will be directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru jointly.

The first shooting schedule [15 days] of LUCKY will begin from October 18 in Mumbai, followed by two more schedules in Mumbai. Thereafter, the unit will leave for an extensive outdoor shooting in Dalhousie in January 2004 and later to Russia in March. We’ve already finalised a new girl opposite Bhai [Salman], Sohail adds, but he chooses to keep the identity of the newcomer concealed for the time being at least!

So what happens to his directorial plans? Isn’t he planning a project with either Salman or himself essaying the lead role? Let me wind up all pending work, only then can I think of directing a film, he states, but adds after a pause, Actually, it’s so difficult to direct a film and continue acting simultaneously. The day I start directing films again, I’ll put a stop to my acting career.

Both, I PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN and LUCKY are being made under Sohail’s new banner, Sohail Khan Productions.
